An Evening in the Forbidden Garden

I've recently added these delectable earrings to my website. I loved making these earrings and may just have to make a pair for myself. I rarely use copper as a medium, but these earrings were screaming for copper.
Any other metal would not have given them the true beauty of Victorian and forbidden they deserve.
They look large but dangle a mere 1.5 inches from the base of the ear wires.

These can be purchased from my website for $15.00 with free US shipping and $5.00 International shipping.

Experiments can be fun!

While putting together jumprings to make a cross pendant, I realized I was using the wrong size ID to achieve my goal. I did however come up with these adorable cross earrings.
I want to give credit to Candy Degel for the Celtic Cross Tutorial which lead me to make these earrings.
Candy is a wonderful lady who deserves much credit.
If you would like to purchase her Celtic Cross Tutorial or one of her beautifully made pendants they are all on sale in her ArtFire shop.
So, my suggestion today is -play-experiment-you never know where it will take you.
And please visit Candy's shop, you'll be amazed at the work she does.
Thanks Candy, I'm now confident enough to experiment.

I can never begin to express the amount of my gratitude to all of you. If it were within my power everyone one of you - my fantastic friends would get surprises everyday! You are that wonderful and important to me.
So, want the details about the earrings?
They are called Threaders.  Mainly because the small chain threads through your ears, taking the place of earrings. I love wearing them because they look so delicate and stylish.
This particular type of Threader allows you to determine which length you want your earrings to dangle.
The Threaders are Sterling Silver and the dainty little bling at the bottom is Swarovski Crystal.

Once again, please let me thank YOU, the wonderful FaceBook fans and friends who have suggested my page to all you know and promoted my work to others. You are helping me to achieve a dream.

Oh but wait! I forgot to tell you what you need to do to enter... How silly of me..
Just leave a comment below but make sure I know how to get in touch with you too.

Lesson Learned

I spent yesterday putting together this Spiral Stitch necklace to show my students on our Saturday Spiral Workshop I learned a valuable lesson.. Hopefully so did my husband.
I added the last 2 "finishing rows"  and asked "Well, what do you think?"
He looked at the necklace, tilted his head and responded. "It looks like old lady jewelry."
I'm not entirely sure if it was the evil squint my eyes got, or the daggers I was surely shooting his way, but he quickly responded:
"You know, like Estate jewelry."

Good recovery....
Never ask a man what he thinks of a piece of jewelry..

Shameless Plug Sunday

If you're a follower of my Facebook fan page you know that in my efforts to help recognize our artists around the world I am hosting a "Shameless Plug Sunday" This falls in line with the "Buy Handmade" pledge I and many others have taken.
All participating artists will be posting a link to one item in their store they would like to have promoted. I will then go to that link and send messages out via Twitter. They will post only one item and only one time. If time and Twitter permits there will ba a Shameless 2 round.
In these economic times when we are all looking for a bargain, remember Handmade may cost a little more-but the quality is the best around. Love and time are put into each item created, not just a paycheck on an assembly line.
I invite you to visit my page and click a few of the "I'm shameless" posts. You will be pleasantly delighted at all the options and great prices you'll find...

Remember:  Buy Handmade and support your local Artist..

Breast Cancer Awareness

My rainy Sunday afternoon project this past week was to design this Breast Cancer Awareness Pendant.
I created this pendant using a total of 10 pink laser cut  cubic zirconia faceted round stones and gold filled wire. After a good polishing I must say the total effect is a stunning pendant as well as a statement toward the fight against breast cancer.
This pendant is a one of a kind, since I make no 2 designs the same. The basic design may be the same, but the end result is always different.  At the time of this writing, this is the only one I have made, and will only make another upon request. Thus this little jewel has a uniqueness of it's own. I am positive that the neck it will eventually call home will cherish it as much as I have cherished each and every second I put into designing it.

Romancing the Stone

I had seriously considered the name "Starry Romantic Night" for this pendant.
However with so many of us hooked on Swarovski Crystal we literally romance this stone.
Swarovski has commanded attention through the years for it's beauty and attention to detail.
This pendant is a 28mm Crystal AB heart delicately wrapped using 14k Rose gold filled wire.
The delicate heart shaped from rose gold fill wire truly romances the crystal.

This pendant is currently being shown in Port Charlotte, Florida.
But it could grace your neck or for that special someone (yes men -I am talking to you)
as a "just because" or special holiday.
Romancing the Stone can be purchased  including shipping and handling.
Purchasing shipping insurance is your option and recommended.

Happy to say this pendant sold within two hours of being put on display!

Venus

Venus is the second-closest planet to the Sun, orbiting it every 224.7 Earth days. The planet is named after Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty. After the Moon, it is the brightest natural object in the night sky.

Venus (meaning "love" or "sexual desire") was a major Roman goddess principally associated with love, beauty and fertility, who played a key role in many Roman religious festivals and myths. From the third century BC, the increasing Hellenization of Roman upper classes identified her as the equivalent of the Greek goddess Aphrodite.

My next necklace is named "Venus".
After a little research  resulting in the two definitions above, I decided the name fit this necklace.
The pear shaped pendant is a beautiful Rose Quartz, sculpted with Argentium 930 wire. Encircling this pendant is wire and Fire Opal Swarovski Crystals.
The necklace which is 18 inches long with a 3 inch extending chain with a delicate silver plated lobster claps, is made exclusively of glass pearls in mauve and cream, enhcanced by more Swarovski crystals in Fire Opal.

Venus is a beauty to behold at $44.00 with free US shipping and discounted International shipping.

Blue Mood Necklace

This is one of my latest designs. I'm calling it the Blue Mood Necklace, not because you need to be in a blue mood to wear it. Blue moods are also reminiscent of times spent at the ocean, calm, serene, the sand and surf. The sun warming your skin.

This necklace is made using a denim lapis pear cabochon while the necklace is made using Blue Sodalite gemstone beads. The necklace is 18.5 inches long and has a silver toggle clasp.
The pear is wrapped in silver Artistic Wireand the size is 58x39cm including the wire sculpting.

Price is listed at $30.00 which includes free shipping within the US and discounted shipping everywhere else.

This necklace makes a fantastic Mothers Day gift or a gift "Just Because"

My latest adventure

I finally found the time to attempt this bracelet.
I made 3-strands of 4 row chain maille then braided it to make this bracelet.
I chose this clasp, but now that I've tried it on I'm not sure whether to wear it with the clasp showing or not.
Either way I now have 2 different ways to wear this bracelet.

It still needs a little work. I've discovered a little more to tinker with each day.

What better way to wear an ear cuff than wearing one chained to a post earring?

Total cost is $43.00 for my favorite ear cuff to date.

Contest submission 1-28-10

Ther was only one submission yesterday, but a very good one.
This name seems to fit for both genders-male and female.

The name submitted is:   Dragons Tears

Any input? Your thoughts on this name?

The earlier submissions are awesome, but I intend to send a pendant to Adrienne and ask if I can use one of her submissions for another piece I just made. Her name fits it perfect. You'll see why after I get the photo to post.  So Adrienne, can I use "Asrai" for another pendant?

There is still time to submit your name ideas too.

By the way Andrea also has some truly wonderful scarves she makes for those of you in the cold.
I need one now, south Florida is crazily cold!

Thank you Andrea. We all love being discovered by someone.
You are a true angel to the Handmade community.
